Need someone who has already done enterprise level resource management and has experience setting up and managing the process of assigning and prioritizing resources across a portfolio of work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project size: weeks (4 to 6), not months.
  • "Muster schedule" - borrowed from manufacturing - which provides visibility to which initiatives resources are allocated and potential resource conflicts.
  • At the aggregate (organization) level - not project level.
  • Needs a "roadmap" or process by which resources are assigned based on analysis (who's right for the job) rather than who's available. Wants our consultant to create the "recipe."
  • Wants to leverage existing tools.
  • Might / might not have someone internal to administer the process once defined. Will depend on the process.
  • Needs a "practical" approach that provides phases/stages to evolve and mature. He expects it to begin with fraction (no smaller the 25%) of FTE allocations. Show evolution to time reporting (likely to face resistance) to capture hours and provide burn rate, velocity, retrospectives. Consultant shouldn't take a purist or idealistic approach.
