Wages and Benefits

$18.00/hour plus mileage & drive-time reimbursement; flexible hours to fit your schedule; transportation allowance provided; up to 3 weeks per year of accrued Paid Time Off; 4 hours of Holiday pay for July 4, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day; dental, vision and life insurance and participation in the agency-sponsored retirement savings plan

A Typical Day in the Life...

A typical day as a DARTS Home Helper offers an opportunity to make a difference in the community by building relationships with older adults, and providing a valuable service that helps them remain in the home of their choice, and will include the following:

  • Completing standard house cleaning tasks such as sweeping/mopping floors, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning and sanitizing bathroom fixtures, scrub bathtub/shower/tile walls, wiping down baseboards or window blinds, clean the kitchen and appliances, change bed linens, and more. Additional tasks that may be requested by the client include but not limited to: clean/organize cupboards or closets, clean inside of refrigerator or oven, vacuum or wash window blinds, change litter box, do laundry.
  • Maintaining appropriate, professional, and respectful relationships with clients.
  • Accurately track and report hours, mileage, and drive time each pay period.
  • Maintaining client confidentiality.
  • Participating in required training sessions/supervisory meetings.
  • Reporting all injuries, incidents, and concerns immediately to DARTS.

Who You Are

  • You have previous experience with commercial or residential cleaning, a plus.
  • You can perform physical jobs such as vacuuming, mopping and other cleaning tasks in a home setting.
  • You can provide quality housekeeping in a timely manner.
  • You can manage and maintain your own schedule.
  • You have a desire to assist and work with older adults.
  • You are punctual, dependable, and skilled in customer service.
  • You can maintain professional boundaries with clients.
  • You have a sensitivity of providing services to clients that may have mental health issues or hoarding behaviors.
  • You have a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation to get to clients' homes within a 15-mile radius of your home. You have a clean driving record and the ability to meet DARTS driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit.
