Job Description:
Summary:
This person will serve as a key member of our finance business support group, providing accounting support directly to project teams. Tasks will primarily include project setup, invoicing, and collections.
Responsibilities will include:
Setting up projects in Deltek Vision, assisting project managers to determine the appropriate project work breakdown structure as needed
Reviewing contracts, purchase orders, work orders, and task orders prior to invoicing
Preparing and sending invoices to clients in accordance with Barr's requirements and contractual obligations
Previewing project reports with project managers when warranted so that corrective actions can be taken prior to preparing invoices
Preparing and running project reports from Deltek Vision, analyzing variances between budgets and actual spending
Working closely with project managers and principals to help ensure timely collection of outstanding receivables and coordinating with clients to collect outstanding receivables
Resolving accounting issues with client accounting or contacting staff when necessary
Analyzing and troubleshooting issues as required
Minimum Qualifications:
4 years of experience directly related to the job responsibilities described above
Working knowledge of at least one accounting software package
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and experience with advanced functions of Excel, such as pivot tables and charts
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively and proactively with team members and clients
Superior analytical skills, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and accuracy
Ability to work independently and with teams to meet client and project needs
Superior task management skills, including scheduling, prioritizing, adaptability, and follow through
Ability to work with multiple internal clients in a fast-paced environment
Flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedule to help meet project deadlines
Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field
Experience using Deltek Vision or Deltek Vantagepoint software
Experience in multi-currency and multi-company environments
A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position can be based out of Barr's Ann Arbor, Michigan; Bismarck, North Dakota; Duluth, Minnesota; Hibbing, Minnesota; Grand Rapids, Michigan; or Minneapolis, Minnesota, offices.
